Since
1989 ELEA LTD have participated in several projects co-funded by EEC
as co-ordinator or partner. The major ones are:
ILDIC
(DELTA PROJECT NO D2012)
ELEA
LTD was one of the three main partners of ILDIC (Integrating
Learning Design in Interactive Compact Disc) project under DELTA programme.
The objectives of the project were to develop and evaluate models and
build prototypes in Multimedia CD-ROM as well as to produce standards
for the design and authoring of learning applications on CD-ROM.
The
other partners were CTAD - UK, GST - UK, UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS - GREECE,
UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE (UK), UNIVERSITY OF TEESIDE (UK), UNI-C (DK).
EUROPEAN
BOOKS IN PRINT (LIBRARIES PROJECT NO 1025)
The
goal of the project was the development of a EUROPEAN BOOKS IN PRINT
electronic database to be used under VIDEOTEX.
ELEA
LTD
was a partner along with ARA S.p.A. (IT) (acting as co-ordinator) and
EDITRICE BIBLIOGRAFICA S.r.l. (IT).
FOREIGN
LANGUAGE TEACHING THROUGH MULTIMEDIA CD (COMPILE)(DELTA PROJECT D2046)
The
project had an overall aim to demonstrate that effective use of multimedia
technology can support the creation, authoring and publication of a
series of structurally related multimedia titles in the area of teaching
foreign languages. The main result of the technical work was a set of
generic software tools for multimedia publishing.
ELEA
LTD
participated in the project in co-operation with UNI-C (DK) acting as
co-ordinator, CTAD (UK), Aarhus County (DK), South Thames College (UK),
British Hellenic College (GR).
TRAINING
OF LIBRARIANS IN NEW TECHNOLOGIES (FORCE PROJECT NO 1498)
ELEA
LTD was the Co-ordinator of the project which developed a multimedia
CD-ROM for the training of librarians in the use of CD-ROM technology.
Other
Partners were UNION OF GREEK LIBRARIANS, UNION OF FRENCH DOCUMENTALISTS,
ASLIB - GB, CTAD - GB, MICRONET - SPAIN.
The
final product of this project (a training CD-ROM) was designated, after
evaluation by the European Commission as TRANSNATIONAL PRODUCT.
TEACHING
GREEK TO ILLITERATES (FORCE PROJECT NO 1399)
ELEA
LTD was the co-ordinator of the Project whose aim was to develop
a multimedia CD-ROM for the training of illiterate people. Other partners
were UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS, GREEK MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, CTAD - UK, HUMBERSIDE
COUNTY COUNCIL - UK, LINHA VERDE - PORTUGAL.
GREEK
BOOKS IN PRINT ON CD-ROM (MIP 08)
ELEA
LTD have been contractors in a MIP (EEC covered Mediterranean
Integrated Programme) funded project for the enhancement and CD-ROM
edition of the GREEK BOOKS IN PRINT.
GREEK
FOR HOTEL BUSINESS (LINGUA)
ELEA
LTD were technical partners in a LINGUA project co-ordinated
by the Hellenic Language School Alexander the Great. ELEA’s participation
had to do with the development of the specification of a MULTIMEDIA
CD for the teaching of Greek for Hotel Business to foreigners.
TELE-INFORMATION
SYSTEM ON MUNICIPALITIES TENDERS (ELLANET)
ELEA
LTD in co-operation with EETAA S.A. developed a communication
network which receive and provide information on tenders issued by Town
Authorities.
EETAA
is a government owned company for the support of development and management
of municipalities. This project was co-funded by ECC through the Greek
Ministry of Industry and Research.
TELE-INFORMATION
AND TELE-ORDERING OF BOOKS (PAVE)
ELEA
LTD developed a communication system based on their own bibliographic
database through which users are able to search the database and place
orders which are forwarded electronically to publishers or distributors.
This
project was co-funded by the Greek Ministry of Industry and Research
under the programme PAVE (Programme for the Progress of Industrial Research).
NEW
TITLES FOR EUROPE (NETEUR - ARIANE)
ELEA
LTD is the co-ordinator of a new programme which will develop
an electronic database with titles of European interest.
The
database is available on INTERNET (http:/www.eurobooks.net).
The
other partners involved are the Greek Association of Librarians, the
French Association of Documentalists (ADBS), the British Association
of Librarians (ASLIB) and the Public Library of Helsinki (Finland).
NEW
EU FUNDED PROGRAMMES
1.
GREEK SCIENTIFIC BOOKS DATA BASE
General
Secretariat for Research and Technology have approved a proposal by
ELEA LTD for the creation of a supplementary
new database for the Greek scientific books in the areas of technology
and economics.
The
new database will comprise the books already existing in the BIBLIOGRAPHY
2000 but with English translation of their titles together with all
other bibliographic information in English (author, publisher etc.).
This
new product will be available by November 1998, both on the CD, the
ON-LINE and the INTERNET edition.
2.
PILOT PROJECT FOR A BOOK TELEORDERING SYSTEM ON THE INTERNET
ELEA
LTD
is the technical consultant for a network of 8 publishers for which
it will develop a tele-ordering system based on the INTERNET.
The
project is financed by the Ministry of Industry through a special
programme for the support of Greek SME’s. The project will be finished
by May 1999.
3.
GREEK INTERNET BOOKSHOP
A
new proposal of ELEA LTD for the creation
of the first modern Greek Internet Bookshop has been approved by the
Ministry of Industry.
The
programme has been developed by ELEA LTD together with three Greek
publishers (ALPHA, ION, LAW LIBRARY) and will be delivered by April
2000.
